Two men were arrested Monday night in connection with a shooting in southeast Ruston, according to authorities.
In a press release, the Ruston Police Department announced a call was received from the Northern Louisiana Medical Center on August 3 at about 11:16 p.m. announcing a man had come into the emergency room with a gunshot wound.
Officers responded to the hospital where they found Latevion Quantrez Dunn, 31, of Ruston. Dunn’s injury was determined to be superficial and was not considered life-threatening.
Officers also detained D’Áudreon Moore, 20, of Ruston, who had been inside the vehicle when Dunn received the wound. Officers determined the scene where the shooting occurred was located in the 700 block of Second Avenue.
RPD investigators responded to both the hospital and the Second Avenue location. Numerous shell casings were recovered in the roadway near Second Avenue and Gill Street, the release said.
During the course of the investigation, officials determined Moore and Dunn had fired shots at another vehicle in the 700 block of Second Avenue.
A search warrant was executed on the vehicle that carried Dunn to the hospital. Two firearms were recovered. One of the firearms had been reported stolen during a vehicle burglary in Ruston in 2019.
Moore and Dunn were arrested and booked into the Lincoln Parish Detention Center for illegal use of weapons. Moore was also charged with possession of a stolen firearm. Bail for Moore was set at $350,000. Dunn’s bail stands at $250,000.
RPD said the investigation remains active and additional charges are possible.
