Funeral services for Mr. Vernard Keith Brazzel, age 66 of Ruston, LA will be held at 2:00 PM, Friday, August 7, 2026 at Living Water Full Gospel Church in Dubach, LA with Bro. Scott Jennings officiating. Keith will be laid to rest alongside his wife in Corinth Cemetery under the direction of Owens Memorial Chapel Funeral Home of Ruston, LA.
Vernard Keith Brazzel went to be with the Lord at his home in Ruston, Louisiana, on August 3, 2026. Keith was born on September 3, 1959, in Monroe, Louisiana, to Gene and Carolyn Brazzel. He was the oldest of four children—and true to form, he led the way, becoming the first of the four to make it Home.
Keith wasn’t a man of fancy things. He was happiest with a fishing pole in his hand, hunting in the woods, searching for arrowheads, or working on something that needed fixin’. A true master of many trades, he could fix, build, or create just about anything. If something was broken, he’d figure out how to repair it. His craftsmanship, creativity, toughness, and determination earned the respect of everyone who knew him.
Keith met his wife, Teresa when they were young, and from that day on they were rarely apart. Through every season of life, they continued choosing one another. They spent countless hours together outdoors, especially searching fields and creek beds for arrowheads, building a treasured collection over the years. Teresa passed away just six months before Keith, and those who knew them would say they simply couldn’t stay apart for long.
Most people knew him as “Keebler,” and if he knew you, chances are you had a nickname whether you wanted one or not. He loved animals, adored his grandchildren, and showed his love more through his actions than his words. His family will forever miss his stories, his willingness to help, and those random phone calls asking, “Whatcha cookin’? I’m hungry!”
Keith accepted Christ at a young age and loved writing songs to sing in church. Blessed with the voice of an angel, he used that gift to worship the Lord. His faith was quiet, steady, and genuine—a simple but powerful testimony of God’s grace throughout his life.
Keith was preceded in death by his parents, Gene and Carolyn Brazzel, and the love of his life, Teresa. He is survived by his children, Brandon, Magon, and Adam; grandchildren, Parker, Remington, Isaiah, Billy, Landon, Sophia, Mahavalyn, and Izabella; sisters, Lisa and Ladonna; brother, Eric; and a host of other family members and friends who will forever cherish his life and legacy.
Serving as pallbearers will be Brandon Brazzel, Adam Brazzel, Remington Brazzel, Adam Pilgreen, Chris Causey, and Dustin Brazzel. Honorary pallbearers are Landon Pilgreen, Isiah Brazzel, and Billy Brazzel.
Keith never needed much to be content—a faithful wife by his side, a project to work on, time spent outdoors, and his family close by. The things he built may one day wear out, but the love he gave, the lessons he taught, and the memories he created will live on for generations. Though absent from the body, Keith is now present with the Lord, whole again and walking in glory.
Visitation will be from 12:30 PM until 2:00 PM, with service beginning at 2:00 at Living Water Full Gospel Church.
