Remembering Renee Singleton

Funeral services for Mrs. Renee Singleton, age 82 of Dubach, LA will be held at 2:00 PM, Wednesday, August 12, 2026 at Salem Church with Rev. Robbie Robertson officiating. Burial will follow in Pecan Grove Cemetery in Hilly, LA under the direction of Owens Memorial Chapel Funeral Home of Ruston, LA.

Renee was born on March 8, 1944 in Minden, LA to Gertie Mae and Harvey Atkinson and she passed away on Sunday, August 9, 2026 in Dubach, LA. Professionally, she worked as a secretary for an insurance agency, where she was known for her dedication and kindness.

Renee loved life and especially enjoyed taking trips and making memories with her daughters. She had a special love for Elvis and enjoyed his music throughout the years. Music was an important part of her life. For many years, she shared her gift of playing the piano at Salem Church and Greenwood Church, bringing comfort and joy to others through her music.

Renee also loved the outdoors, especially fishing and camping at Lake Darbonne, where she enjoyed spending time surrounded by nature, family, and friends. She will be remembered for her love of music, the outdoors, good times with family, and many special memories she created with the people who meant so much to her. Her loving spirit and the joy she brought to others will be deeply missed.

Renee is survived by her husband of 64 years, Lavelle Singleton; daughters, Lisa and husband Pat Poche, Laurie Singleton and partner Cody Richard, and Terri Butler and partner Michael Riser; grandchildren: Rick Butler and wife Stacey, Cole Roton and wife Olivia, Brad Butler and wife Kati, Cody Roton, Todd Butler and wife Meghan, Cory Roton and wife Christine, Hannah Renee Johnson, and Dawson Johnson; brother, Wylie Atkinson; 12 great-grandchildren, one great-great granddaughter,  her beloved pet “Jabo”, many loving in-laws, and a host of extended family and friends.

Serving as pallbearers will be her grandsons: Rick Butler, Cole Roton, Brad Butler, Cody Roton, Todd Butler, and Cory Roton. Honorary pallbearer is Dawson Johnson.

The family wants to express their deepest gratitude to Renee’s only granddaughter, Hannah Renee Johnson for the unwavering love, comfort, and attentive care she provided to her Maw-Maw in her final days and to their aunt, Linda Wade for checking on their Mama and for her continued prayers. Visitation will be held from 12:30 PM until 2:00 PM, Wednesday at Salem Church in Dubach, LA.
