A Ruston woman was arrested Thursday night after a state trooper stopped her for a burned-out headlight and reported finding marijuana inside the vehicle.
Derrycka L. Hall, 26, of Ruston, was booked into the Lincoln Parish Detention Center on counts of possession of a Schedule I controlled dangerous substance, driving under suspension and failure to use required lighted lamps.
According to an affidavit, the state trooper was on U.S. 80 at about 9:18 p.m. Aug. 6 when he observed a 1998 Ford Crown Victoria traveling west without a functioning driver’s side headlight. He stopped the vehicle at the intersection of U.S. 80 and Bernard Street.
The trooper reported detecting the odor of marijuana coming from the vehicle upon contacting the driver, identified as Hall. Hall was advised of her rights and waived them, then said there was marijuana under the passenger seat.
A subsequent search of the vehicle turned up about 65 grams of suspected marijuana under the passenger seat. The trooper also determined during the stop that Hall’s driver’s license was suspended.
Hall was taken into custody and transported to the detention center without incident.
