A Simsboro woman was arrested Aug. 9 on five traffic-related counts, including driving under suspension and failing to restrain a child, after a Lincoln Parish sheriff’s deputy stopped her vehicle on Gahagan Road.
According to the affidavit, a deputy observed a vehicle traveling at a high rate of speed on U.S. 80 west of Simsboro and ran its license plate, which came back uninsured. The vehicle turned south onto Gahagan Road, where the deputy reported seeing it cross the center line dividing the north and south travel lanes multiple times.
The deputy activated his emergency lights and stopped the vehicle at Gahagan Road and LA 3005. While speaking with the driver, identified as Shilo Rea Crane, 55, he observed an unrestrained child of about 2 years old in the vehicle.
A check of Crane’s identification through Lincoln Parish Sheriff’s Office dispatch showed a failure-to-appear warrant issued through the Ruston Police Department for driving under suspension and that her license remained suspended. She was taken into custody and advised of her rights.
Crane was booked on charges of driving under suspension, no insurance, a second count of driving under suspension, child restraint required and improper lane usage.
