Alternate traffic routes suggested for LA Tech summer commencement

The City of Ruston is advising motorists traveling to Louisiana Tech University this weekend to plan ahead for construction-related traffic impacts on Tech Drive.

With graduation taking place at Louisiana Tech University, an increased number of visitors and families are expected to travel to campus. Motorists approaching Ruston on Interstate 20 are encouraged to use the alternate routes provided by the City of Ruston to avoid the construction on Tech Drive and help reduce traffic delays.

Motorists traveling from the west

Drivers approaching Ruston from the west should:

  • Take I-20 Exit 83.
  • Turn right onto Tarbutton Road.
  • Turn left onto W. Alabama Avenue.
  • Continue toward the Louisiana Tech campus and the Thomas Assembly Center/Joe Aillet Stadium which will be on the left.

Motorists traveling from the east

Drivers approaching Ruston from the east should:

  • Take I-20 Exit 85.
  • Turn left onto 167 South/Trenton Street.
  • Turn right onto W. Alabama Avenue.
  • Continue toward the Louisiana Tech campus and the Thomas Assembly Center/Joe Aillet Stadium which will be on the right.

Motorists are encouraged to review the City’s alternate-route map before traveling and allow additional time to reach their destination.

The City of Ruston encourages residents and visitors to share the alternate-route map with family and friends attending Louisiana Tech’s graduation.
