The Global Ruston housing development on West California Avenue across from Louisiana Tech will cater to international students attending local universities. Under construction by private investors, it will include Ruston’s first covered multi-level parking garage.

The inmate litter crew operated by the Lincoln Parish Sheriff’s Office collected: 9,280 pounds of trash off 56 miles of parish roadways during the month of July. That’s nearly five tons!

I don’t know what to think about the retirement of the penny and the proposal to make the nickel from cheaper metal. I understand the economics, but there’s something odd about reaching the point where our money costs too much to make.

Harlem, here they come—again. Grambling’s World Famed Tiger Marching Band will lead the 57th African American Day Parade in Harlem on September 20. The band also opened the very first parade in 1969.

September means the Louisiana Chicken Festival will return to Dubach for the 37th time, proving once again that Lincoln Parish has room for both peaches and poultry.

Vendors should submit their applications as soon as possible for the Sept. 26 event.

Although Lincoln Parish is not formally under a burn ban, the very dry conditions require extreme caution with any open flame outdoors.

The new Ruston fire station #2 may just be the most architecturally stunning public building in the parish since the old courthouse was demolished in 1950.
