A Ruston man was booked into the Lincoln Parish Detention Center on Sunday on drug and child endangerment counts after a traffic stop, according to an affidavit.
Miketavious Dice, 37, was arrested at 3:23 p.m. Aug. 23 on counts of improper lane usage, window tint, possession of a Schedule I controlled dangerous substance, possession of drug paraphernalia, four counts of illegal use of a controlled dangerous substance in the presence of a minor and four counts of failure to use child restraints. He was also booked on a Ruston Police Department warrant charging felony theft and felony bank fraud.
A Lincoln Parish sheriff’s deputy on patrol spotted a vehicle traveling east on Mondy Road with extremely dark window tint, later measured at 3%. The deputy caught up with the vehicle on Works Road and watched it cross the center line into the oncoming lane about six times and cross the right-side lane limit twice onto the shoulder.
The deputy activated his emergency lights and initiated a traffic stop. The driver said he did not have his license on him and identified himself as Dice. The deputy reported a strong odor of green marijuana coming from inside the vehicle and observed four unrestrained juveniles inside.
Dice was placed in restraints and advised of his rights. Asked about the presence of marijuana in the vehicle, he said there was marijuana under the driver’s seat. Dispatch then confirmed the outstanding Ruston Police Department warrant.
A probable cause search turned up two plastic baggies containing suspected marijuana, loose marijuana inside the vehicle and a backpack holding suspected marijuana residue and packaging materials. Investigators listed 15.3 grams of marijuana in the drug possession count.
The vehicle and the juveniles were left in the custody of a family member. Dice was booked without incident.
