An 18-year-old Grambling State University student was arrested Aug. 21 on a home invasion charge after he forced his way into a female student’s dormitory room to confront her about a social media post.
Marco Bovance, of Grambling, was booked into the Lincoln Parish Detention Center on one count of home invasion, according to the affidavit.
Grambling State University police were dispatched to Frederick Douglass Hall about 6 p.m. in response to a disturbance reported through the university’s GSAFE tip line. Officers arrived to find a group of students who were being loud, and Bovance was in the middle of a verbal dispute with another man.
After the students were instructed to return to their rooms, the woman who had called the tip line came out of her dormitory and said Bovance, accompanied by several other people, had used a card to enter her room without her consent and had forced his way in after she tried to stop him. Once inside, he questioned her about a social media post he believed she had made about him and threatened to punch her in the face as he aggressively approached her.
Bovance was advised of his Miranda rights and admitted that he entered the room forcefully and that he threatened the woman over the post. He was taken into custody and transported to the detention center for booking.

Persons named or shown in photographs or video as suspects in a criminal investigation, or arrested and charged with a crime, have not been convicted of any criminal offense and are presumed innocent until proven guilty in a court of law.
