A 52-year-old Ruston man was arrested early Aug. 29 on a second-offense drunk driving charge after a traffic stop that ended in his own driveway.
Price Washington was booked into the Lincoln Parish Detention Center on counts of second-offense driving while intoxicated and simple possession of marijuana, along with driving under suspension and improper lane usage, according an affidavit.
Ruston police officers stopped a white Chevrolet Silverado at 12:21 a.m. after the driver made an improper turn. As the vehicle came to a stop in the driveway at Washington’s home, Washington got out and began walking away. An officer detained him in handcuffs, and a resulting search turned up a bag holding less than 14 grams of marijuana.
Officers detected the odor of alcoholic beverages coming from Washington and noted that he appeared lethargic. He agreed to perform standardized field sobriety tests and performed poorly on them.
Washington was transported to the Lincoln Parish Detention Center, where he provided a breath sample that showed a blood-alcohol content of 0.116%. He was also found to have a suspended driver’s license.
