A 47-year-old Ruston man was arrested Aug. 30 on a domestic abuse battery charge after a woman told police her ex-boyfriend punched her and pinned her against a wall during a break-up dispute at her apartment.
Elliot Daniels was booked into the Lincoln Parish Detention Center on one count of domestic abuse battery, according to the affidavit. Bond had not been set at the time of booking.
A Ruston Police officer was dispatched at 1:03 p.m. to a Ruston apartment in reference to a domestic disturbance. The officer made contact with the woman and noted blood around her lips, bruising on the left side of her stomach and red marks on both forearms.
The woman identified Daniels as her ex-boyfriend and said the two were going through a break-up. She said she was in the living room and Daniels was in the bedroom when he got out of the bed and attacked her out of anger. He began punching her, then grabbed her and pinned her against the wall. She said he eventually let her go and left the apartment after she said she was calling police.
The woman told the officer Daniels had likely gone to his mother’s house a short distance down the road. That residence falls outside the city limits, and Grambling Police assisted with the arrest.
Officers made contact with Daniels there and advised him of his Miranda rights, which he said he understood. He was placed in handcuffs, put inside a marked patrol unit and transported to the detention center for booking.
