An 18-year-old Shreveport man was arrested Sept. 3 at Grambling State University after a woman reported that he raped her in her dormitory room, and officers later found a rifle in his own dorm room.
Adam Mateo Miller was booked into the Lincoln Parish Detention Center on counts of second-degree rape, carrying a firearm in a school zone and violating a protective order by possessing a firearm, according to a probable cause affidavit.
The woman filed a complaint that day saying Miller had raped her in her room during the early morning hours. She said she told him “No” several times and continued telling him no, but that he refused to stop.
Officers detained Miller at 7 p.m. in his room at Knott Hall. He was advised of his Miranda rights and agreed to speak with officers.
Inside the room, officers reported smelling marijuana and seeing a digital scale in plain view. Miller gave consent for a search, and officers recovered a .22-caliber rifle, magazines and ammunition. Miller said the rifle was his.
Miller told officers he had sex with the woman but said the encounter was consensual. He acknowledged that she said “No” two to three times.
A check of the National Crime Information Center database showed Miller was barred by court order from possessing a firearm. He was then transported to the detention center for booking.
