A 23-year-old Ruston man was arrested Sept. 5 on a Texas felony warrant and a resisting an officer after he ran from officers who were trying to handcuff him on Farmerville Highway, according to an affidavit.
Christopher Jackson was booked into the Lincoln Parish Detention Center on a Collin County, Texas, Sheriff’s Office warrant charging possession of a firearm by a convicted felon and one count of resisting an officer.
A Ruston police officer responded to an alarm at Freeman Lumber on Farmerville Highway at about 7:18 p.m. Two men were at the business, one of them identified as Jackson, and both were part of a cleaning crew working for the lumber company. Dispatch advised that the two were cleared to be inside, and the officer left the scene and radioed an all clear.
Dispatch then notified the officer by radio that Jackson was wanted on the Collin County warrant. The officer circulated the area and found Jackson at the Raceway on Farmerville Highway, making contact with him at about 7:31 p.m. Jackson was advised of his rights under Miranda and told about the Texas warrant. He said he had taken care of the warrant and began acting in an erratic manner.
A Ruston police lieutenant arrived on the scene a short time later. When the two officers attempted to place hand restraints on Jackson, he began running from them. The officers detained him, handcuffed him and escorted him to a patrol unit. Jackson was then taken to the detention center and turned over to its custody.

Persons named or shown in photographs or video as suspects in a criminal investigation, or arrested and charged with a crime, have not been convicted of any criminal offense and are presumed innocent until proven guilty in a court of law.
