A Ruston man was booked on a methamphetamine distribution count and for not registering as a sex offender registration Thursday morning after the Lincoln Parish Sheriff’s Office Special Response Team served a search warrant at his home, according to an affidavit.
Alvez Wright, 47, was arrested at 7:12 a.m. Sept. 10 on one count of possession with intent to distribute methamphetamine, and one count of failure to register and notify as a sex offender.
Deputies arrived at the residence to serve a signed state search warrant and made contact with Wright at the front door. He was taken into custody and advised of his rights under Miranda, and he was told the search warrant was being served.
Deputies secured the residence before searching it. Inside, they found a clear plastic baggie containing about 33 grams of methamphetamine, along with mail addressed to Wright at the home.
Wright is a registered sex offender whose listed address is on a different Ruston street. A sheriff’s office sergeant verified in the agency’s sex offender registry that Wright was not registered at the address where the warrant was served.
The residence was secured again, and a copy of the search warrant and the search warrant return was left there. Wright was taken to the Lincoln Parish Narcotics Enforcement Team for further questioning, then transported and booked into the Lincoln Parish Detention Center.
