A 31-year-old Ruston man was arrested on a disturbing the peace count after officers responding to a report that a man had threatened to “shoot up” a North Vienna Street restaurant found him walking down the middle of South Vienna Street.
Jeremy Hardyway was arrested at 11:12 p.m. Sept. 11 on one count of disturbing the peace by appearing intoxicated, according to an affidavit. He was released on his own recognizance.
Officers were dispatched to North Vienna Street in reference to a man who had threatened to return to the establishment and “shoot up the place” after being asked to leave. Dispatch described the man as wearing a colorful button-down shirt.
While en route, officers saw a man later identified as Hardyway walking south in the middle of the right lane of travel, though a sidewalk was available. He matched the description dispatch had provided.
Hardyway told an officer he had not done anything and was walking home. He said he had been asked to leave the establishment and had complied.
Hardyway appeared to be intoxicated, with bloodshot, glassy eyes and slurred speech, and he could not retain information. He was not charged in connection with the reported threat.
