Lincoln Parish residents have until Friday to weigh in on the policies that decide when students move from one grade to the next.
The Lincoln Parish School District has released a draft of its 2026-27 Pupil Progression Plan for public review and comment. The plan lays out the criteria for promoting students from one grade level to the next, along with other academic policies that guide the district’s schools.
Comments will be accepted online through Friday, Sept. 25, at www.lincolnschools.org/page/pupil-progression-plan-review.
A printed copy of the plan is also available at the Lincoln Parish School District Office through Thursday, Sept. 24, during regular operating hours from 7:30 a.m. to 4 p.m.
“This is really about our students and making sure we have a clear, consistent approach to helping every student move forward and be successful,” Superintendent John Young said.
The plan has to meet state requirements, but Young said the district also wants it to reflect local needs.
“There are certainly state requirements that we have to follow, but I also think it’s important that we look at this through the lens of Lincoln Parish,” Young said.
That is where the public comes in.
“One of the things I value most about this process is the opportunity for public input,” Young said. “As educators, we have professional expertise and experience, but we don’t have all the answers. Our parents, teachers, administrators, students and community members bring perspectives that are important to consider.”
