A Ruston man on probation for DWI was arrested early Sunday after a Lincoln Parish sheriff’s deputy saw his car drifting over the fog line on U.S. 80 in Simsboro, according to an arrest affidavit.
Myson Ramone Jackson, 20, was arrested at 1:34 a.m. Sept. 20 on Gahagan Road near Priscilla Lane.
The deputy watched a white Nissan Altima traveling east on U.S. 80 cross the white fog line several times. After the deputy turned on the patrol unit’s emergency lights, the car turned south onto Gahagan Road, crossed the fog line again and stopped near Priscilla Lane.
Jackson, the driver, said his license was suspended and handed over an ID card. The deputy smelled a strong odor of marijuana coming from inside the car, and all three occupants were detained and read their Miranda rights.
When Jackson got out, the deputy saw a half-empty bottle of tequila in the driver’s seat. Jackson had trouble standing and keeping his balance. He said he had drunk half the bottle and later said he had smoked marijuana.
A records check showed Jackson is on probation for a previous DWI in October 2025 and is not allowed to drive a vehicle without an ignition interlock device. The Altima did not have one. A check of the car’s VIN showed it had not been registered, and Jackson could not provide proof of insurance.
A probable cause search of the car turned up a small, partially smoked marijuana cigar.
Jackson had a hard time staying awake and had to sit on the push bumper of the patrol unit. He refused field sobriety tests. At the Lincoln Parish Detention Center, he gave a breath sample of 0.103.
Both passengers were also arrested on outstanding warrants.
Deterion Shraud Brantley, 34, of Ruston, the front-seat passenger, was booked on three Ruston Police Department warrants for flight from an officer, resisting an officer by flight and simple criminal damage to property. Bond was set at $5,000 on the flight count, $1,000 on the resisting count and $500 on the criminal damage count.
Brytravious Millsaps, 27, of Winnsboro, who was riding in the back seat, is on probation for DWI. He was booked on a Third Judicial District warrant for DWI, driving with a suspended license and a seat belt violation.
Jackson was booked on charges of second-offense DWI, operating a vehicle without a required ignition interlock device, improper lane usage, driving with a suspended license, open container, failure to register a vehicle and no proof of insurance. Bond was set at $2,500 on the DWI count, and he was released on his own recognizance on the improper lane usage, suspended license, open container, registration and insurance counts.
