A Ouachita Parish man was found dead by firefighters after his home near Calhoun was completely destroyed by fire.
The State Fire Marshal said the house fire on Luebenia Road claimed the life of the 63-year-old man. His name has not been released.
On September 23 at about 4:00 p.m., the Ouachita Parish Fire Department responded to the fire south of Calhoun. The small mobile home was completely destroyed. State Fire Marshal investigators determined the fire originated in the center of the home but additional investigation is underway.
In a written statement, State Fire Marshal Chief Chad P. Sonnier said, “Our deepest sympathies are with this man’s family and loved ones as they face this heartbreaking loss. Tragedies like this are a painful reminder of how quickly a fire can become life-threatening. Having working smoke alarms in your home can provide those critical early seconds needed to recognize the danger, respond, and get to safety.”
