A Union Parish family returned home after two weeks at St. Jude Children’s Research Hospital in Memphis to discover their home had been burglarized.
On Sunday, September 13, the family brought their child home and discovered the back door of the Academy Street residence had been forced open.
The home had been ransacked. Jewelry, money, tools, electronics, and medication belonging to the child had been stolen. The person or persons responsible also opened cans of paint and poured it throughout the house, damaging countertops, children’s clothing, personal belongings, and items of sentimental value.
After two weeks away, this family simply wanted to come home and rest. Instead, they found their home in disarray and faced days of cleanup and repair.
Crime Stoppers of Union Parish is offering a cash reward for information leading to the arrest of the person or persons responsible. The Farmerville Police Department is investigating, with assistance from the Union Parish Sheriff’s Office.
