Remembering Katherine Ann Berry Brewton

In Loving Memory of Katherine Ann Berry Brewton

On Friday, October 2nd, Katherine passed away at the age of 83, leaving behind a legacy of love, service, faithfulness, and countless memories that will live on in the hearts of those who knew her.

Born on November 9, 1942, in St. Joseph, Louisiana, Katherine grew up with a spirit that was unmistakably joyful and compassionate. From an early age, she developed a love for reading and serving, a trait that would remain throughout her beautiful life.

A devoted wife, mother, and friend, she lived a life marked by selfless love and quiet service to others. She unfailingly placed her family’s needs above her own and had a special gift for making people feel heard, welcomed, and cared for. Her faith in Christ was the foundation of her life, providing strength, comfort, and purpose through every season. She faced one of life’s deepest heartbreaks as she cared for her eldest son, Michael, during his courageous battle with ALS and later grieved his loss. Yet even in sorrow, she demonstrated extraordinary faith, grace, and resilience, reflecting the steadfast love that defined her life.

Katherine dedicated her professional life to education. While she was proud of the work as an educator, those who knew her best would say that family was always her greatest accomplishment.

Friends and family will remember Katherine for generous heart, steadfast faith, easy smile, love of community, and devotion to Brian and grandchildren. The prayers she offered, the lessons she shared, and the kindness she showed will continue to guide those who loved her.

Katherine is survived by her husband of 61 years, Brian Brewton; her son, Mark Brewton (Tina); her daughter, Rebecca Brewton Daughtry (Ray); and her daughter-in-law, Cathy Brewton. She is also survived by her beloved grandchildren, Ryker and Avery Grace Brewton, Maisie and Geneva Daughtry, and Madison Lyn Borskey (Tanner) and Breck Brewton (Maggie).

She is further survived by her brothers, Ed Berry and Doug Berry (Lisa); her brother-in-law, Greg Brewton; and many cherished nieces and nephews.

Katherine was preceded in death by her parents, Ardis Stockton Berry and Edward Y. Berry, and by her eldest son, Michael Brewton.

Though our hearts are heavy, we take comfort in the countless memories Katherine gave us and in the lasting impact she made on our lives. Her life reminds us that a person is measured not only by years lived, but by the love they leave behind.

A celebration of Katherine’s life will be held on Friday, October 9, 2026, at Trinity Methodist Church, Ruston, Louisiana. Visitation – 1:00 PM and Service – 2:30 PM
