A Ruston woman is accused of pocketing cash from customer orders she canceled while working the drive-thru at a fast-food restaurant.
Martha Lee Taylor, 31, of Ruston, was arrested Oct. 2 by the Ruston Police Department on a misdemeanor theft charge. She was also arrested on an outstanding Ruston police warrant for home invasion.
According to an arrest affidavit, officers were dispatched around 11 a.m. to the restaurant for a report of theft by an employee. The theft allegedly occurred Sept. 26 and Sept. 29 and totaled $84.71.
The restaurant’s district manager told police that Taylor was working the drive-thru register on both dates. The manager said video showed Taylor on five separate transactions in which the customer paid in cash. After each transaction was complete, the manager said, Taylor canceled the order and kept the money.
Dispatch advised that Taylor had an active arrest warrant. At about 1 p.m., the manager contacted police to say Taylor was at the restaurant. She was arrested at 1:06 p.m. and taken to the Lincoln Parish Detention Center to be booked.
