
UPDATE: On 10/9/2026, at approximately 6PM, UPSO deputies attempted a traffic stop near Downsville. The driver then fled from deputies and later fired multiple gunshots from the vehicle, striking the deputy’s patrol unit. The chase ended on Rocky Branch Rd near the Point community of Downsville. An emergency alert was issued for a suspect who was believed to be in the area on foot. The subject has been located, and the alert has been canceled. Multiple law enforcement agencies are still on scene and Rocky Branch Rd, near the D’Arbonne Bayou, remains closed at this time. This investigation will be turned over to the North Louisiana Sheriff’s Investigative Unit (NLSIU). Any future updates will be provided by NLSIU.

Authorities broadcast an “immediate threat warning” Friday evening as a manhunt continued for a wanted local man.
The Union Parish Office of Homeland Security and Emergency Preparedness issued the warning to residents about 7:30 Friday evening, alerting them to avoid Rocky Branch Road and the surrounding area.
The alert identified Jonathan Cascio, a 36-year-old white male as the subject of the warning.
The alert read:
Imminent Threat Alert
Avoid Rocky Branch Road and the surrounding area.
Jonathan Casio, a white male in his 30s, is armed and dangerous.
Do not approach or attempt to confront him. If you see him, move to a safe
location and call 911.
Stay clear of the area until an official all-clear is issued.
Authorities have not released information on why Cascio is wanted. Social media discussions have claimed Cascio fired shots at law enforcement officers. Those reports have not been confirmed by officials.
Local residents have reported seeing helicopters and armored SWAT vehicles from surrounding parishes in the area being searched.
Cascio is a convicted felon with previous arrests in Union and Lincoln Parishes.
