Arrest made on campus on out-of-parish warrant

A man sought on a Ouachita Parish warrant was taken into custody without incident Thursday night at a construction site on the Louisiana Tech University campus.

Kenneth L. Snyder, 40, of West Monroe, was arrested at 8:44 p.m. Oct. 15 in a parking lot just north of the football stadium by Louisiana Tech University police.

According to an arrest affidavit, campus dispatch received a call at about 8:09 p.m. from the Ouachita Parish Sheriff’s Department advising that it held a warrant for Snyder. The agency believed Snyder to be a foreman who sleeps in his vehicle at a construction site on campus and said it would extradite him if campus police could locate him.

Officers then began checking construction sites on campus and found Snyder at the site north of the stadium. He was placed in handcuffs, which were double-locked and checked for tightness. He was read his Miranda rights and told he was under arrest on a warrant out of Ouachita Parish, the affidavit states. He was then taken to the Lincoln Parish Detention Center.

Snyder was arrested on one count of communicating false information of planned arson.
