Remembering Deloria Alice Wilson Colvin

Deloria “Dee” Alice Wilson Colvin of Dubach, Louisiana, passed away on October 18, 2026.

Dee was born January 23, 1942, to Homer Burnham Wilson and Edna Mizelle Hood Wilson. On December 29, 1961, she married Jimmy Rex Colvin, beginning a marriage and life together that would span nearly 65 years.

Dee graduated from Ruston High School and attended Louisiana Tech University. She had a long career as an administrative assistant, working for T.L. James for 32 years. She later worked for the State of Louisiana for two years and Louisiana Tech University for 10 years before retiring.

Faith was an important part of Dee’s life. She grew up as a member of Saint Rest Baptist Church and, after she and Jim married, joined New Prospect Baptist Church. In her later years, she enjoyed fellowship with the congregation at Temple Baptist Church. Throughout the years, Dee was involved in various church ministries until declining health limited her ability to participate.

She was also active in the Order of the Eastern Star, Woman’s Missionary Union, Friendship International, and the Pierian Club.

Dee was a people person who never met a stranger. She genuinely loved people and had a way of making those around her feel welcome. She loved to cook, and anyone who knew her knew she was good at it. More importantly, she always made sure everyone was well fed. She also loved working in her yard and took great pride in keeping it beautiful. When her health no longer allowed her to do the work herself, she made sure Jim kept everything maintained.

Dee’s faith was especially important to her as she faced the health challenges of her later years. Through difficult days, she drew strength and comfort from her trust in the Lord, and her faith remained steadfast.

Dee was preceded in death by her parents, Homer Burnham Wilson and Edna Mizelle Hood Wilson.

She is survived by her husband, Jimmy Rex Colvin; her sons, Jimmy Todd Colvin and wife Debora, and Timothy Lane Colvin and wife Laurie; her grandchildren, Eron Colvin Bethard and husband Lance, Clay Colvin, Emily Colvin, and Sadie Colvin Jinks and husband Mason, who lovingly knew her as “Mims”; her brother, John Lane Wilson and wife Ramona; her sister, Sarah Berry; and a host of nieces, nephews, great-nieces, great-nephews, and great-great-nieces and nephews.

Visitation will be held Wednesday, October 21, 2026, at 9:00 a.m. at Kilpatrick Funeral Home in Ruston, with the funeral service following at 10:00 a.m. Rev. Terry Ganey and Rev. Larry Bullock will officiate. Interment will follow at Saint Rest Cemetery in Dubach.
