Man arrested after refusing to leave store

A 75-year-old Ruston man was arrested Friday afternoon after he refused repeated requests to leave a cellphone store where he had complained about his phone.

Hubert Allison Jones III, 75, of Ruston, was arrested at 1:36 p.m. Oct. 16 by the Ruston Police Department.

According to an arrest affidavit, an officer responded to a complaint about an unwanted guest at the store. Employees told the officer they had asked Jones to leave after he complained that his phone was not being turned on. Police told Jones the matter was civil and instructed him to leave the premises.

After multiple requests to leave, Jones was placed in restraints, at which point he passively resisted and said he was not going to leave, the affidavit states. He received a small cut on his left wrist. He was taken to the Lincoln Parish Detention Center for booking.

Jones was charged with entering or remaining on property after being forbidden.
