A Ruston man was arrested early Saturday on five charges after police say he fled officers at speeds reaching 80 mph in a 25 mph zone and crashed into the front of a house.
Carlos Albritton, 44, of Ruston, was arrested at 3:06 a.m. Oct. 17 by the Ruston Police Department.
According to an arrest affidavit, an officer was dispatched to a Marshall Drive residence over a report that Albritton was beating on the complainant’s door. Dispatch advised that people inside the home were scared and that the complainant had a restraining order against Albritton. While the officer was en route, dispatch advised that Albritton had left in a white vehicle and was headed north on Cornell Street toward Cornell Avenue.
The officer spotted a white sedan matching that description and activated lights and sirens to make a traffic stop. The vehicle rolled through the stop sign at Cornell Street and Martin Luther King Drive and continued east on Martin Luther King Drive without stopping, the affidavit states. During the pursuit, the vehicle reached speeds of 80 mph in a 25 mph zone, rolled through another stop sign at Water Tank Road and East Tennessee Avenue and crashed into the front of a house.
Officers ordered Albritton out of the vehicle, then handcuffed him and read him his Miranda rights. After the arrest, officers found that Albritton is banned from the Marshall Drive address and does not have a valid driver’s license. He was taken to Northern Louisiana Medical Center, where he was medically cleared, and then to the Lincoln Parish Detention Center for booking.
Albritton was charged with aggravated flight from an officer, disturbing the peace, criminal trespass, stalking and driving without a valid license.
