A Lake Providence man was arrested Thursday night after police responded to a shoplifting report at a Ruston business.
Tretavious Hill, 19, of Lake Providence, was arrested at 9:19 p.m. Oct. 22 by the Ruston Police Department.
According to an arrest affidavit, an officer was dispatched at about 8:54 p.m. after the business reported that several people were placing merchandise and a case of alcohol inside a bag. The officer contacted a group at the store and asked Hill whether he was concealing any items.

Hill admitted to taking hairspray, car wipes and a case of alcohol, the affidavit states. He then removed the items from his pockets and placed them on a kiosk.
The officer noted an odor of an alcoholic beverage coming from Hill’s breath. Hill said he had been drinking and told the officer he was 19.
The stolen items totaled about $45 before tax. They were returned to a store manager, who asked that Hill be charged and banned from the business.
Dispatch advised the officer that Hill had two active warrants through the city of Ruston. He was placed in handcuffs and taken to Lincoln Parish Detention Center.
Hill was booked on charges of theft under $1,000 and possession of alcoholic beverages by a person under 21. He was also booked on two Ruston warrants for failure to appear, one for disobeying a flashing red signal and one for driving under suspension, with bond set at $2,000 on each.
