Woman arrested on theft charge after lottery ticket report

A Ruston woman was arrested Sunday night after a business reported that an employee took lottery tickets without paying for them.

Yvette Polk, 39, of Ruston, was arrested at 8:40 p.m. Oct. 25 by the Ruston Police Department.

According to an arrest affidavit, an officer was dispatched to the business on a report of an employee stealing lottery tickets. The person who reported the theft showed the officer video footage of Polk taking multiple tickets from the dispenser without paying.

Polk is accused of doing the same on several other occasions, taking about $325 worth of lottery ticket merchandise in all.

Polk reported for work and was read her rights, which she said she understood. She was taken to Lincoln Parish Detention Center and booked on one count of misdemeanor theft.
