Man arrested on aggravated assault, false imprisonment charges

A Ruston man was arrested early Wednesday after police responded to a disturbance in which a woman reported he threatened her with knives and damaged her car.

Jermichael Reynolds, 39, of Ruston, was arrested at 12:20 a.m. Nov. 4 by the Ruston Police Department.

According to an arrest affidavit, an officer was dispatched Tuesday to a Ruston residence. The officer found a red Cadillac with a slashed tire, shattered front and rear windshields, a broken headlight and a damaged bumper.

The car’s owner told the officer she had been dating Reynolds on and off for about six years and was trying to break up with him when he took two kitchen knives and threatened to harm her if she left. She sat on the couch in fear. He also grabbed a cinder block and threatened to damage her car with the knives and block.

She was able to calm Reynolds down and took him to the store. When they returned home, she tried to leave again. Reynolds collected the knives and cinder block, began damaging her car and drove his vehicle into hers repeatedly.

Reynolds was handcuffed, searched and advised of his rights. He was then taken to Lincoln Parish Detention Center.

He was booked on charges of felony criminal damage to property, false imprisonment, reckless operation and aggravated assault.
