CHOUDRANT, La. — Choudrant High senior pitcher Emma Boggs held a signing ceremony Friday afternoon where the softballer signed to go play for Lyon College in Batesville, Ark.

Boggs was surrounded by coaches, students, and family when she signed her commitment to play for the Scots.

“This has been the first year I’ve coached Emma, and she’s a phenomenal softball player,” Choudrant softball coach Stacey Tassin said. “She’s had to step up into a role that she was not used to really doing a whole lot, which is pitching. She’s put a few games in for us and done well. Whatever I ask her to do, she does it, and that means a lot.”

After an introduction by Ryan Smith, Choudrant boys’ basketball coach and athletics director, Boggs thanked everyone for coming. She said she chose Lyon College so she can go into nursing and work in labor and delivery.

“It meant so much to have everyone come out and support me,” Boggs said. “It’s always been a dream to play college softball. So I feel very blessed to be able to continue my dream. (I chose Lyon College) because the atmosphere and people are amazing. The school is small, and the coaches are just awesome. I loved everything about it.”
