This week in Lincoln Parish Schools

The Lincoln Parish Journal is providing our local schools with an opportunity to submit nuggets from what’s going on at their respective schools in order to get more information out on their students, faculty and staff. The information below comes directly from those schools. Any school wishing to provide content each week can email at hannalsingh@gmail.com

This normally runs on Friday’s each week, but since the LPJ didn’t publish on Good Friday, we are running last week’s edition today.

Second Grade Book Publishing Party

This week, our second graders celebrated the end of their informational writing unit with a special Book Publishing Party! Each student picked an animal to research and learned all about its habitat, diet, appearance, life cycle, and babies. They explored a variety of informational books and used the Epic app to gather fun facts and interesting details.  After putting all their hard work into writing amazing reports, they didn’t stop there—they also became illustrators! A huge thank you to Mrs. Clary for guiding our young artists in creating beautiful illustrations to go along with their books during art class.  Now, we’re proud to say our students are both published authors and illustrators! What a wonderful celebration of their creativity and hard work!

Kindergarten & First Grade Egg Hunts

Our Kindergarten and First Grade classes had some special fun on Thursday!  Each grade, with the help of teachers, parents, and ladies from La Tech Phi Mu, had a fun time hunting easter eggs and playing games.  We appreciate all of the hard work that went into preparing a super fun Easter party for our littlest Bullpups!

We are looking forward to our Kindergarten plays on Thursday, April 24th.  Mrs. McHale’s class will perform at 1:00 followed by Mrs. Wagner’s class at 2:00.

During the upcoming week, April 22-25 Dubach will finish DIBELS testing and prepare for LEAP testing to begin. Dubach is currently a “B” school (78.7) and would like to maintain, if not improve our “B” status, so each day we have a “B” themed dress day.

Tuesday – We don’t have testing “Blues” – Wear Blue shirts with uniform bottoms

Wednesday – Put it in “Black & White,” We are ready! – Wear Black and White

Thursday – We want to “B” in the 80’s – Dress like the 80s

Friday – We have our “Boots on the Ground” and are prepared to “B” Great – Boots and jeans

We will finalize the week with a Pep Rally from 2-3pm in the gym. Students who received Mastery or Advanced during the 2024 LEAP test will be recognized and rewarded. For improving our school performance score (SPS) from 76.2 -B (2023) to a 78.7-B (2024), the students will also get to tape Principal Young to the wall.

Lincoln Parish Early Childhood Center

LPECC cubs enriched their unit on Animals with a visit to the zoo last week. So far, we have learned about mammals and reptiles. We can’t wait to learn all about sea animals and birds. We want to give a special shoutout to the parents and staff from the central office that came with us and helped make our trip a success! We have also been busy helping Dr. Cobb plant and maintain our school garden. This goes along with our healthy eating unit we had earlier this year.
