Marijuana, gun found on I-20 stop

Mug shot not available as of press time

State police arrested a Mississippi man last week after marijuana and a firearm were found in his vehicle on a Lincoln Parish traffic stop.

Terrell Juan Loving, 35, of Vicksburg, was stopped on I-20 near Simsboro on July 17 for an improper lane change. A state trooper smelled marijuana coming from Loving’s Nissan Altima and a search was conducted.

A check of the license plate on the Nissan showed it belonged to another vehicle. Loving admitted it did not belong on that vehicle. The trooper issued warning citations for failure to signal a lane change and switched license plate. During the course of the stop, the trooper smelled the odor of marijuana coming from the vehicle and saw bits of marijuana on Loving’s clothes.

A search of the vehicle located a glass jar containing three bags of suspected marijuana. A Taurus .357 handgun was also seized.

Loving was booked at the Lincoln Parish Detention Center for possession of marijuana with intent to distribute and possession of a firearm in the presence of a controlled substance.
