Declan Dahl was named the CUSA Newcomer of the Year.

Louisiana Tech placed four players on the All-Conference USA baseball teams Tuesday, led by pitcher Declan Dahl being named the league’s Newcomer of the Year.

Dahl earned First Team All-CUSA honors while Trey Hawsey was named to the All-CUSA Second Team for the second straight season. Freshmen Thomas Allen and Casey McCoy were both selected to the CUSA All-Freshman Team.

Dahl became the first Bulldog to earn CUSA Newcomer of the Year honors since Louisiana Tech joined the league in 2015. He is also the fifth Tech player in the past six seasons to receive a conference superlative award.

Taylor Young was named CUSA Defensive Player of the Year in 2021, Logan McLeod earned the same honor in 2022, Ethan Bates was selected CUSA Player of the Year in 2024 and Brooks Roberson was named Freshman of the Year in 2025.

The Bulldogs have now had at least three players named All-Conference for nine consecutive seasons.

Dahl turned in a dominant season as Louisiana Tech’s Friday night starter, compiling a 7-4 record with a 3.20 ERA. The Azle, Texas, native struck out 96 batters in 78 2/3 innings, the third-highest strikeout total among CUSA pitchers this season.

Against conference opponents, Dahl ranked among the league leaders in nearly every major pitching category. He finished first in ERA at 2.11 and strikeouts with 73 while also ranking fourth in opposing batting average (.201), innings pitched (59 2/3) and wins (five). He also ranked fifth in called strikeouts with 15.

Dahl recorded 10 outings this season with at least five innings pitched and six strikeouts. His top performance came April 17 at Kennesaw State when he struck out a career-high 13 batters in 5 2/3 innings.

Hawsey paced the Bulldogs offensively, batting .332 with 15 home runs. His homer total tied for second-most in CUSA while his batting average ranked eighth in the league.

The West Monroe native was one of only four conference players to tally at least 70 hits during the regular season.

Hawsey led Louisiana Tech with a 16-game hitting streak, 24 multi-hit games, nine three-hit games, 14 multi-RBI contests and five games with at least three RBIs. In conference play, he ranked among the league’s top hitters with a .366 batting average, 45 hits and nine home runs while posting a 1.111 OPS.

McCoy appeared in 51 games with 49 starts during his freshman campaign, batting .287 with four doubles, three triples, five home runs and 27 RBIs.

The Prairieville native hit his first two collegiate home runs in back-to-back games against Northwestern State on Feb. 24 and Southern Miss on Feb. 27. He batted .400 during the month of February and posted multi-hit games in six of his first 11 collegiate appearances.

McCoy split time between second base and shortstop throughout the season. He recorded a pair of three-hit games, including a three-run, two-RBI performance against Little Rock on April 14 and a career-high three-RBI outing against Northwestern State on May 5.

Allen emerged as one of the conference’s top relief pitchers during his freshman season, tying for sixth in CUSA with five saves.

Among conference pitchers against league competition, the Benton native ranked in the top three in ERA (2.55), opposing batting average (.192), fewest hits allowed (24), fewest runs allowed (12), fewest earned runs allowed (10) and fewest walks allowed (eight).

Allen earned his first collegiate victory in his second appearance, tossing two scoreless innings with five strikeouts against Northwestern State on Feb. 24. He later threw a career-high 5 1/3 innings with six strikeouts against Arkansas State before earning his first save March 8 at South Alabama.

One of Allen’s top performances came April 3 at FIU when he threw 4 2/3 no-hit innings with a career-high seven strikeouts to earn the win.

Louisiana Tech opens Conference USA Tournament play Wednesday against No. 8 seed Sam Houston at Mickey Dunn Stadium in Kennesaw, Georgia. First pitch is scheduled for 9 a.m. CT.
