GSU students arrested for gun, marijuana in dorm

Two Grambling State students were arrested Wednesday after police executed a search warrant on their dorm room, recovering marijuana and a firearm.

A staff member of GSU residential housing staff conducted a routine walkthrough of a Wheatley Hall room and spotted suspected narcotics and a firearm. Neither of the residents of the room were present when GSU officers investigated.

The room was secured until a GSU detective could obtain a search warrant. The warrant was executed, and a large plastic bag of suspected marijuana and a handgun was seized.

Tahj Kochinskey, 18, of Shreveport, was questioned and admitted selling marijuana for money. He also admitted to possessing the handgun which he said he bought from an unknown person for $500. Joshua Budd-Fashion, 18, also of Shreveport, admitted to having marijuana in the dorm room but said he had no knowledge of the firearm.

Both Kochinskey and Budd-Fashion were booked at the Lincoln Parish Detention Center for possession with intent to distribute marijuana, possession of firearm in the presence of a controlled substance, and possession of a firearm in a firearm-free (school) zone.
