ESPN’s Pete Thammel reported this week that sources say former Louisiana Tech head coach Skip Holtz will be heading to Big Ten country to serve as the special assistant to the head coach at Northwestern.
Holtz spent 10 seasons in Ruston as the Bulldogs Boss, leading the program to seven straight bowl appearances including six straight bowl wins from 2014 through 2019, before being released after a 3-9 record in 2021.

The longtime collegiate coach recently completed his second year as the head coach of the USFL’s Birmingham Stallions, leading the franchise to back-to-back league’s title in 2022 and 2023. According to reports, the new job at Northwestern won’t interfere in his Stallions job.
Northwestern has been in the news this summer after firing head coach Pat Fitzgerald following allegations of player hazing within the program. David Braun will serve as the interim head coach for the Wildcats this fall.
