The Lincoln Parish Sheriff’s Department will hold its 13-mile Law Enforcement Torch Run on Friday, April 19.
The Torch Run is held in communities nationwide each year to benefit Special Olympics.
The run will start at the Dubach Town Hall at 5:30 a.m. and finish at the Louisiana Tech University track.
The mission of Special Olympics to provide year-round sports training and athletic competition in Olympic-type sports for children and adults with intellectual disabilities, giving them opportunities to develop physical fitness, demonstrate courage, experience joy and participate in a sharing of gifts, and skills, and friendship with their families, other athletes and the community.
The Louisiana law enforcement community is a strong supporter of Special Olympics, hosting numerous Torch Runs in the state each year. Over 2,000 Louisiana law enforcement personnel are expected to participate in Torch Runs this year.
Athletes, families, and supporters are encouraged to come out to cheer on law enforcement agencies as they pass through their town in honor of our Special Olympics athletes. To participate in the run, register at http://bit.ly/2024LincolnTorchRun.
