Louisiana Tech will open the 2021-22 season Sunday when the Bulldogs host the annual Jim Rivers Intercollegiate at Squire Creek Golf Course.
The three-day, 54-hole event featuring 21 teams and 120 golfers will kick off a fall season that includes four events. In all, Tech will compete in nine total events plus the 2022 Conference USA Championships in late April.
“I’m very pleased with the schedule our players get to compete in this fall and spring,” Terry said. “It is a schedule that should test us each and every week. It is going to be fun watching this team evolve at every event.”
The Jim Rivers Intercollegiate will consist of one round Sunday, Monday and Tuesday with tee times beginning at 7:30 a.m. the first two days and 8 a.m. on the final day. The event is free for fans to attend throughout the three-day tournament. Fans can also follow up-to-date scoring through live results at Golfstat.com.
Tech will next compete in the New Mexico-hosted William H. Tucker Intercollegiate in Albuquerque, N.M., from Sept. 24-25. LA Tech then travels to Dallas, Texas, to compete in the SMU-hosted Trinity Forest Invitational from Oct. 4-6. Louisiana Tech’s final fall tournament will be at the South Alabama-hosted Steelwood Collegiate Invitational running from Oct. 30-31, in Loxley, Ala.
LA Tech returns to the course at the Auburn-hosted Tiger Invitational in Opelika, Ala., from March 6-8. Tech then travels to Lafayette, La., to compete in the ULL-hosted Louisiana Classics from March 14-15. The Bulldogs will close out the month of March at the Houston-hosted All-American Intercollegiate in Houston, Texas, from March 21-22.
Louisiana Tech then travels to Franklin, Tenn., to compete in the Vanderbilt-hosted Mason Rudolph Championship from April 1-3, before heading to West Point, Miss., for the Mississippi State-hosted Mossy Oak Collegiate from April 11-12.
Tech opens postseason action at the Conference USA Championships in Texarkana, Ark./Texas, from April 25-28. The NCAA Regionals will take place from May 16-18, followed by the NCAA Championship from May 27 to June 1.
Louisiana Tech returns all nine golfers from the 2020-21 roster while adding freshman Grant Smith. Headlining Tech’s returners are fifth-year seniors Mac and Sam Murphy who led LA Tech in 2020-21 with stroke averages of 72.56 and 72.72, respectively. M. Murphy was named third team all-C-USA and first team all-Louisiana last season, while S. Murphy was named second team all-Louisiana.
