BeeJay Williamson was everywhere Saturday night in Louisiana Tech’s 45-42 win over Southeastern Saturday night.
For his efforts, Williamson was named the Conference USA and Louisiana Sports Writers Association Defensive Player of the Week announced on Monday.
Williamson notched two interceptions which he returned for 62 total yards, including a 45-yarder for a TD in the first quarter that gave Tech a 7-0 lead. He was the first Bulldog to record two interceptions in a game since he accomplished the feat against UAB on Oct. 31, 2020.
The native of Dallas, Texas, became the seventh Bulldog in the last 23 games to register a pick six. The pick marked the 15th pick six for LA Tech since 2017, which leads the country.
Williamson tied for third on the team with six total tackles against Southeastern, including five solo stops. He also forced two fumbles in the Tech victory.
Tech continues its home-stand this week as the Bulldogs host the SMU Mustangs on Saturday, Sept. 18, at 2:30 p.m. CT.
