Ruston High FFA wins state forestry event

The Ruston High School FFA won the Louisiana State Forestry Career Development Event last Wednesday.

The contest took place at the Indian Creek Recreation Area in the Kisatchie National Forest. Team members include Raymond Granger, Kassidy Kelley, Dylan Trevillion and Caleb Granger. 

Trevillion won high individual in the written exam with a perfect score. Caleb Granger won high individual in equipment identification and he also won the overall high individual of the contest. With that award Granger received a $1,000 scholarship to the Louisiana Tech School of Forestry. Over the course of his high school career, Caleb Granger has won three area high individuals and one state high individual, totaling $4,000 in scholarships. 

This win qualified the Ruston High’s FFA Forestry Team to represent the State of Louisiana at the 2022 National FFA Convention in Indianapolis, Indiana.
