Tech hoops hosts Jarvis Christian tonight

After picking up its first win of the season Friday night, the Louisiana Tech Bulldogs will return to the Thomas Assembly Center to host Jarvis Christian at 6:30 p.m. tonight.

The contest can be heard on the LA Tech Sports Network (107.5) or via the Louisiana Tech Athletics app. It can also be seen streamed live on CUSA.tv with a paid subscription.

LA Tech held off Jackson State in their home opener, winning by a final score of 70-68.  Despite going a stretch of 10-plus minutes with no made field goals in the second half, the Bulldogs never surrendered their lead and got one final defensive stop to secure their ninth straight home win.

Isaiah Crawford anchored the Bulldogs in scoring with a team-high 16 points.  The forward is averaging a team-high 15.5 points per game, having scored 15-plus points in back-to-back games for the second time in his career.

Kenneth Lofton, Jr. registered 13 points and a team-high seven rebounds versus JSU.  The forward is averaging 12.5 points and a team-high 8.0 boards per game.  Going back to last season, he has led the Bulldogs in rebounding in seven straight games.

Jarvis Christian is an NAIA program that competes in the Red River Athletic Conference.  The Bulldogs have played three games this season, defeating University of St. Mary, 62-58, while falling to Texas Wesleyan and Philander Smith College by scores of 76-69 and 76-62, respectively.

Leland Kirkendall came off the bench to score a team-high 24 points in their season opener against Texas Wesleyan.  A trio of Bulldogs – Desmond McNiel, Mcshane Wyatt and Semaj Matthews – combined for 40 of their 62 points in the four-point win against the University of St. Mary.

This is the first ever meeting between LA Tech and Jarvis Christian.  It will be the third straight year the Bulldogs face an opponent from the Red River Athletic Conference as they played Wiley College in 2019-20 and Our Lady of the Lake last season.
