Lincoln Parish Schools participate in canned food drive

Schools around Lincoln Parish participated in the Lincoln Parish School District canned food drive benefitting Christian Community Action (CCA).

Schools in the district developed creative ways to make the food drive fun and exciting including class competitions. Lincoln Parish School students were able to collect over 12,600 cans of food for the CCA.

Stephanie Matthews, Executive Director of CCA, said that this food will help carry their food supply until May. This is extremely beneficial as food donations tend to slow in the spring months.

Christian Community Action (CCA) was founded by churches in Lincoln Parish in 1984 and strives to meet crisis or emergency needs in our communities. Through their efforts, hundreds of families and individuals in Ruston, Grambling, Choudrant, Simsboro and Dubach are given assistance each year.

Jessie Bryan, a counselor at Choudrant High School, along with volunteers from the Choudrant High School Beta Club, traveled around to each school to collect the 12,600 cans.

Bryan noted the impact this has on our community and expressed how proud she is of our school district for stepping up to provide for such a critical need.

Lincoln Parish School District would like to thank the students, families, staff and community stakeholders for helping with this event this year.
