Traffic stop leads to charges

An Alexandria man was arrested early Tuesday morning after a traffic stop led to recovery of marijuana and a firearm.

Shortly after midnight Tuesday, Lincoln Parish Deputy J. McHenry stopped a vehicle at Woodward Avenue and Tarbutton Road for an illegal exhaust system.

When McHenry approached the driver, he smelled suspected marijuana inside. The driver, Jerry L. Quinney, Jr, 23, admitted he had marijuana in the vehicle.

A search revealed two bags of approximately 29 grams of suspected marijuana and a Glock .45 pistol.

Quinney was arrested and booked at the Lincoln Parish Detention Center for a modified exhaust, possession of marijuana, and possession of a firearm in the presence of a controlled substance.

Quinney bonded out of the detention center Wednesday.
