RUSTON, La. – Louisiana Tech head coach Matt Terry announced Thursday the signing of Carter Rowe from Chelmsford, England. Rowe will join the Bulldogs for the 2022-23 season.
“I am excited to have Carter join our program next fall,” said Terry. “He is a high character young man and a really good student. Carter is a talented player with an outstanding short game that will bring a lot of college tournament experience to Louisiana Tech.”
Rowe spent the last fall at South Mountain Community College in Phoenix, Arizona. Carter helped the Cougars to three tournament titles with a pair of third place finishes at the Pima Community College Fall Duel and the South Mountain Classic. Rowe averaged a 72.0 over his three outings for South Mountain.
Prior to joining South Mountain Rowe won the Essex Amateur with scores of 77, 71, 70 and 67 during June of 2021. Later this summer Rowe also competed in the English Amateur finishing with a two-day score of 143 (73, 70) making it to the round of 64 in match play.
Rowe started his collegiate career at Eastern Arizona College where he held a 72.8 scoring average over one year with the Monsters. As a freshman Rowe won the NJCAA regional tournament by posting four straight rounds of 71. Rowe finished tied for 20th at the NJCAA National Championships helping his team to a 15th place finish.
Rowe attended The Sandon School in Chelmsford, England where he competed in soccer and rugby before graduating in 2018. Rowe was also a member of the Essex Golf Club, the Golf College and the Arsenal Development Squad.
Rowe chose the Bulldogs over Oral Roberts and Lamar. “I have a great relationship with Coach Terry and the rest of the team has been extremely welcoming. I’m excited to join the team and get started.”
