Call of stranded motorist leads to arrest of two for active warrants

Two wanted fugitives were arrested Saturday after a deputy responded to a stranded motorist report on Interstate 20.Saturday evening Deputy D. Johnston was dispatched to a report of a stranded motorist at the I-20 westbound rest area. The deputy identified the driver as Shandrea Monique Williams, 27, of Rayville.After a Sheriff’s department dispatcher checked Williams’s identification card, it was determined she was wanted on an active warrant for felony theft between $750 and $5,000. Williams was arrested on the warrant. Bail was set at $5,000.The car was released to a passenger, Demornio D. Collinsworth, 40, of Shreveport. After Deputy Johnston had left the scene with Williams, it was learned Collinsworth was wanted by the Texas Department of Criminal Justice for parole violation. Texas authorities were contacted to verify the warrant and arrange extradition. The deputy saw Collinsworth driving the vehicle westbound on Interstate 20. It was stopped and Collinsworth was placed under arrest for the Texas warrant and driving with no drivers license.Both Williams and Collinsworth were both at the Lincoln Parish Detention Center. No bail was set for Collinsworth as he is being held for Texas authorities.
