
Two men were arrested Friday after a sheriff’s deputy found a large amount of marijuana on a traffic stop.
About noon on Friday, Deputy D. Johnston of the Lincoln Parish Sheriff’s Department observed a Chevrolet Impala on Interstate 20 with window tint so dark to the point the occupants of the vehicle could not be seen. The vehicle was stopped on Tech Drive as and the driver was identified as Marvin Campbell, 19, of Oakland, Calif.
While speaking to Campbell and the passenger, Jamar Grant Gibson, 19, of San Leandro, Calif., Johnson detected an overwhelming odor of marijuana coming from the vehicle. Campbell stated he had marijuana inside the trunk of the vehicle.
During a search of the trunk, a black duffle bag was located containing a three gallon-sized Ziploc bag of suspected marijuana, two quart-sized bags containing suspected marijuana, and a set of scales.
Campbell stated the marijuana belonged to him and he was arrested.
Further searching located two quart-sized Ziploc bags containing suspected marijuana in a backpack belonging to Gibson. In searching Gibson, deputies located a scale concealed inside his pants. Both were transported to the Lincoln Parish Detention Center and booked for possession of marijuana with intent to distribute and possession of drug paraphernalia. Campbell was additionally charged with illegal window tint and improper lane usage.
