Trinity hosts Bob Mann in lecture series

Trinity United Methodist Church is hosting well-known author and LSU journalism chair Bob Mann in its upcoming Laskey Lecture Series.

Mann will discuss “Polarization: The Cause and the Cure” at 7 p.m. Thursday, March 17 at this free event.

The Laskey Lecture Series is a gift to the community endowed by the late Virginia Davis Laskey who stated as its purpose “to enrich the lives of persons in the community and surrounding areas—to stimulate thinking and promote ideas that will lead to action.”

Open to the public, this spring’s presentation is by Mann, a noted author and political commentator.  The author of the several books including “Backrooms and Bayous:  My Life in Louisiana Politics,” Mann holds the Manship Chair in Journalism at the Manship School of Mass Communication at LSU.

He has served as press secretary to influential Louisiana legislators in Washington, D.C., and has known and interviewed every Louisiana governor—except Earl K. Long—since 1944.

He speaks with humor and empathy, casting politics and politicians in a refreshing, human light, and he offers a fresh look at Louisiana political history; his remarks will focus on healing the division in our state and nation.

The event will be held at the Trinity Center, 1000 Woodward Avenue.
