When Louisiana Tech hosts UTSA in a three-game Conference USA series this weekend, the Lady Techsters will play in front of more than 50 alums at Dr. Billy Bundrick Field.

The series stretches over three days with games Friday (6 p.m.), Saturday (2 p.m.) and Sunday (1 p.m.).

It’s Alumni Weekend in Ruston as the athletics department and program will host in excess of 50 former players spanning back four decades.

The activities will be on Saturday as the three seniors from 2020 (Jenny Chapman, Marilyn Rizzato, Addison Roark) will be honored in a pregame ceremony on the field prior to first pitch. Following the contest, every Tech softball alum in attendance will be recognized on the field.

“This is a big weekend for us in a lot of ways,” said Tech head coach Josh Taylor. “Every conference weekend is big. You want to play well at home. You want to protect your home field. And this weekend, we want to do it in front of four decades of Lady Techster alums.

“We are so excited to have all of these former players come back. This is their program. We are simply the ones working every day to continue the winning tradition that they have established before us.”

Tech (20-14, 5-4 C-USA) is coming off a series road win over UTEP last weekend as the Lady Techsters took two out of three against the Miners. The Lady Techsters have looked sharp at times this year, but Taylor is still looking for that consistency game after game.

“I never question our effort,” said Taylor. “However, we have to learn how to consistently compete pitch by pitch, out by out, inning by inning. We still lack the consistency that we need to become champions. That’s the goal of this program. That’s the goal of this year’s team. It’s a process, and they are working hard. And we are getting closer.”

UTSA (9-18, 3-3 C-USA) won its first C-USA series of the year, taking two out of three from UTEP in El Paso before taking one of three games from East Division Charlotte last weekend.

Tech won three out of four against the Roadrunners last year in San Antonio.

All three games will be streamed live on CUSA.tv.
