A Ruston woman was arrested Friday after police responded to a report of a woman being struck by a car on Bond Street.
A caller said a woman was struck by a car but jumped up, leaving her shoes in the street, and ran into a Bond Street apartment and the car that hit her was parked outside.
Sergeant K. D. Loyd responded and saw the shoes in the roadway. Sgt. Loyd heard yelling in an apartment where a window had been knocked out. Fighting could be heard inside, and the occupants were ordered outside.
The apparent victim stepped outside. She had cuts on her face and broken nails. Upon questioning, she said her “sister” Dominique Davis was inside. Davis told Sgt. Loyd her name was “Dom Dampowell,” even confirming it when written down.
A handprint was seen on the hood of the car, and it was confirmed as Davis’ vehicle.
A witness stated Davis threw a barbecue grill through the apartment window.
A records check revealed Dominique Davis as the suspect’s correct name and that she was wanted for failure to appear in court on a speeding charge. She was arrested for battery of a dating partner, resisting an officer by providing false information, and the warrant.
Bail was set at $7,000.
