Speeding 106 in a 70 zone leads to numerous charges

A Ruston man was arrested on drug and weapon charges after he was stopped for traffic violations early Thursday morning. 
 
At about 1 a.m. Thursday morning, Deputy D. Johnston of the Lincoln Parish Sheriff’s Department observed a vehicle at Louisiana Highway 33 and I-20 with one headlight. The vehicle turned on the interstate eastbound and the deputy paced the car in excess of 100 mph in a 70 mile an hour zone. The vehicle was stopped and during the investigation deputies observed suspected marijuana in plain view inside the vehicle. A search of the vehicle revealed more marijuana, numerous items of drug paraphernalia, ecstasy pills, and a Hi-Pont pistol. 
 
The driver, Tranarvis J. Knight, 22, was arrested and booked at the Lincoln Parish Detention Center for possession of marijuana, possession of ecstasy, possession of a firearm with controlled substances, possession of drug paraphernalia, speeding 106 in 70mph zone, reckless operation of a vehicle, improper headlights, and expired vehicle registration.  Bail was set at $70,000.
