A Ruston man was arrested last week on charges of fleeing from officers on foot and in a vehicle.
Ruston Police officers were dispatched to an East Texas Avenue address regarding a vehicle that was not supposed to be there and found a vehicle, a Cadillac, start to leave the scene slowly to not bring attention to itself. When officers attempted to catch up with the vehicle, the driver began to speed up.
The officer activated the emergency lights, but the driver, who was later identified as Jordan Houston, 23, did not attempt to pull over or slow down. Houston made a right on East Line Avenue and then continued onto Vernon Street until he came to Dunbar. Houston then made a right on Dunbar and a left onto Kirkland. He then drove the vehicle into the grass, and the RPD officer observed a Houston get out of the driver’s seat and run onto Mills Avenue.
The officer lost sight of Houston but alerted other units, and very quickly, an RPD lieutenant stated he had detained Houston on Second Avenue.
Houston was booked at the Lincoln Parish Detention Center.
